Tel. 01621 853423

Sunday 11th May 2008

Revd Clifford Newman will lead our morning service today.
This will include the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Thank You. Tricia, Helen and Julia wish to thank everyone for the many expressions of sympathy and support they have received in their time of great sorrow occasioned by the loss of their dearly beloved Daddy and Grandpa.

Doreen Summersby. Doreen is still in hospital but her speech and thought processes seem to be showing signs of improvement. We are welcome to visit her in Ward B20, Broomfield, preferably in the evenings, but please remember that she tires very easily. Her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Aelwood are very appreciative of our continuing support.

Summer Holiday Club. A meeting to discuss the format of the Summer Holiday Club will be held on Tuesday 6th May at 8.15 for 8.30p.m. at the Evangelical Church. The club will be on Thursday 31st July and Friday 1st August. If you would like to help please come along to the meeting; if you are unable to attend or have any questions, please contact me on 325234. ~ Julie Hardy

Christian Aid Week. is 11th to 17th May. Can you help by delivering and collecting envelopes in a street near you? Or perhaps you can spare a couple of hours on Saturday 17th May to hold a collecting tin in the Asda foyer. Or maybe counting money is your thing. If you can help with any of this please contact me. ~ Barbara Evans 324086

There will be a supply of envelopes in the church for anyone who didn’t get one through their letterbox.

Tuesday Trippers. 13th May 2008. Why not come on a walk through Limehouse and Wapping from Canary Wharf to Tower Bridge.

The walk along Narrow Street and Wapping High Street is one of the most interesting in London. In the 18th and 19th centuries London was the busiest port in the world and the narrow streets reflect what happened here with towering wharves and narrow alleys leading down to the Thames. Among the places we will see is the oldest police station, opened even before London‘s official police force was established and the place where "The Gang of Four" formed the short lived Social Democratic Party on 25th January 1981. You will see the church with the second highest clock face in London and the one at which John Wesley preached his last sermon in 1790. We will also see the site of the house where the colour mauve was discovered.

The trip does include a lot of walking (about three miles on cobbled streets) so good footwear is essential.

Bring a picnic lunch and hope for fine weather as we will be eating about halfway along the route.

Join us at South Woodham Ferrers railway station at 9.25am at the very latest for group travel and then go back in time.

~ John and Sheila

The Passion. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 27th May at 7.30 pm. at Holy Trinity Church. We shall be walking some possible routes around the town – so that we can plan the event. We also need as many people as possible to come to the meeting to express an interest in taking part. Without YOU it won’t happen!

Contact Father Paul Fox or me for more information. ~ Julie Hardy
