Annual Family Grants 2007

 

Dear Colleague,

 

I write to let you know about the Annual Family Grants available from this charity to all the clergy in the Diocese, whether Stipendiary or SSM. These grants are subject to a “do it yourself” means test. The limits, which refer to the combined incomes of clergy and spouse, are reviewed each year.

 

The CLOSING DATE for GRANT APPLICATIONS is 1^ST SEPTEMBER 2007. The value of the grants will be increased or decreased according to the number of applications received in relation to the cash available. So, please do remember to meet this deadline. The grant values quoted are the 2006 levels, simply as a guide.

 

If you work with a clergy colleague, please check that they have received a form. I will gladly supply extra copies on request.

 

 GRANTS AVAILABLE IF COMBINED INCOME DOES NOT EXCEED £27,955

 

·         BIRTH GRANT (£150), available as soon as the child is born.

Please apply by letter if this is after the closing date.

 

·         CLOTHING GRANT (£200), given three times in a child’s school career.

That is, at the beginning of school years 3, 7 and 12  (Start of Junior, Secondary and Sixth Form)

 

·         HIGHER EDUCATION GRANTS (£350), payable for up to four years for clergy dependants engaged in full time education between their 18^th and 24^th birthdays.

 

·         OTHER GRANTS.  (£100) available towards the cost of educational visits and (£70) for college interview trips during the past twelve months, if the actual costs have exceeded  these amounts.

 

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, IF COMBINED INCOME DOES NOT EXCEED £22,805

 

·         CHILDREN’S GRANTS can be claimed (if the child is below 18 years of age on 1^st September 2007 and not earning his or her own living)

(Child aged 1-5: £100  /  aged 6-10: £150  /  aged 11-17: £200.)

 

Please remember that it is not possible to guarantee to maintain this particular level.

 

The Charity expects to pay these grants in late October, subject to the agreement of the Charity’s governing body.
