GENERAL GRANTS

To clergy with modest family incomes who have dependent children.

A grant is available on the birth of each child, followed by clothing grants at certain stages of their school career. Help is also offered towards the cost of educational school trips and visits for further education interviews. Annual grants are provided during further education (four years maximum).


To clergy with more limited family incomes.

An additional grant for each dependent child is payable annually


To all clergy, upon retirement.

A grant is available.


To clergy spouses, upon bereavement.

Following the death of a member of the clergy, a grant is immediately payable to their spouse.


To clergy widows/widowers.

Grants are payable from time to time (usually on an annual basis) and continue to reach all those whose spouse's last clerical appointment was in this diocese, wherever they may now be living.

SPECIAL GRANTS

Emergency and Compassionate Grants.

These offer help towards unforseen financial difficulties. Assistance is available for clergy and their widows/widowers.


Holiday Grants

These are adminstered by the Archdeacons, using funds provided by the Charity and others.

RANGE OF BENEFICIARIES

The Charity is established for the benefit of ordained ministers (both stipendiary and non-stipendiary) who are beneficed or licensed, and therefore does not include those with "permission to officiate".

APPLICATIONS FOR ASSISTANCE

An application form with details of grants is circulated to clergy each summer through the diocesan mailing. In case of sudden need, application may be made to any officer of the charity.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CHARITY

The Charity is most grateful for support received from the clergy and laity of the diocese. Regular donations from PCCs and covenanted gifts from individuals are greatly appreciated, and the Secretary is glad to respond to invitations to make the work of the Charity more widely known and appreciated.

FURTHER DETAILS

Each deanery is invited to designate two people (one lay person plus a member of the clergy) to be its local "stewards", who can advise on the work of the Charity, and their particulars are available through Rural Deans.
